The first buds of the year. Nothing else.
Our ceremonial matchas are harvested only once a year. In May, in Uji, the first spring buds, which are the most concentrated in L-theanine and chlorophyll, are hand-picked, one by one.
The veins are removed. The leaves are shade-dried, then slowly ground with a stone mill. This process, unchanged for centuries, preserves every aromatic nuance.
The result: A vibrant green, silky powder, with no bitterness. A long umami finish.
Limited production. Ichibancha 2026 – last units available.
